Although we had no workings in the temple for this meeting, the lodge was opened as usual and a very interesting and informal lecture about Freemasons who have received the Victoria Cross was delivered by W.Bro Ian McDermid. Also confirmed was the donation of a book by a Brother Titled “ Sod That For a Game of Soldiers” which will be part of the raffle at our installation meeting in December, in which the proceeds will go to the Air Bourne Forces Charity, along with £100 donated from the lodge raffle from the festive board.

23rd March 2019

Saturday 23rd March 2019 our 413th regular meeting was held at Dartford Masonic Centre. W.Bro Ian McDermid gave a very fitting eulogy for our W.Bro A F Bournes, who passed to the grand lodge above in January. W. Bro Ray Armstead proudly raised his son, Luke to the degree of a Master Mason and with the assistance of W. Bro Bob Crowhurst who delivered the traditional history.
The officers put a lot hard work into making the meeting a success and hopefully something for Bro. Luke to remember for years to come. The Meeting was well attended and the festive board catered for 33 guests and members. A total of £247 was raised in donations which has been sent to the Grand Charity and £26 was also collected for the  Greenwich & Bexley Hospice.

Welcome and congratulations to Luke Armstead who was initiated by his father and master of the lodge, Ray Armstead. We hope that you enjoyed your day and look forward to your future in the Lodge of St Giles & St Luke.
W.Bro Ian Mcdermid read out a personal and heart felt eulogy for Harry Bonello, who had passed to the Grand Lodge above on 21st January 2018, for which a minutes silence was held. Also, W.Bro Alan Frank Bournes PPGSuptWks was elected an Honorary Member of the Lodge. At the Festive Board, a respectable £200 was raised from the raffle to be donated to Finlays Fund, a charity set up for Finlay Sangster who was born 12 weeks premature weighing just 2lb 12oz. Shortly after his first birthday, Finlay was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.
