The continuation of craft Freemasonry
The Chapter of St Giles & St Luke
No. 6668
What is Chapter
Royal Arch, also known as Chapter, is the continuation of Craft Freemasonry. Chapter members, known as Companions, meet in various Chapters under a Grand Chapter. These are governed by three Principals, who collectively rule. The Grand Chapter is ruled over by three Grand Principals, with a Pro First Grand Principal when the First Grand Principal is a Royal Prince.
How is it organised
In England, Royal Arch consists of four main ceremonies: the exaltation ceremony, which consists of two parts. The first part is to bring in any new members and the second is an installation ceremony for each of the three Principals. Both parts are delivered as a dramatic presentation, explaining the principles of the order. There then follows an explanation of the history, symbolism and principles of the Royal arch.
